Client: IMP

The Race of Champions (ROC) has been running for 25 years. Originally conceived as a way to determine the world's best rally driver back in 1988, in 1999 the net was cast wider and car and motorcycle racing champions were included. It pits 16 champions from various motor sport disciplines against each other in a knockout format. The winner will be crowned Champion of Champions. Rally drivers still feature strongly on the list of winners, with Sebastien Ogier the reigning champion. In addition, drivers are paired together to compete in the ROC Nations Cup. No surprise that the German pairing of Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel have won this event for the past five years.

Cloudbass staff have been working on ROC since 2009 when it visited the iconic Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing. The following two years, it was closer to home, in Dusseldorf's ESPRIT Arena. This year, it's back in Asia at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.

Working on the international feed for organisers IMP, two operators keep worldwide viewers informed. A race operator has a data link from Timing Solutions Limited (TSL) and displays the in-race timings. The new software for 2012 also keeps track of the groups, which precede the knockout stage. The group standings are then sent to the second operator's Viz Trio software and stored on their system. All without any involvement from the second operator! Lower third group standings and full frames which detail the whole event are available whenever they are needed.

ROC is broadcast on networks throughout the world including Motors TV across Europe, Al Jazeera in the Middle East, Fox in Latin America, Fox Sports in Australia and Super Sport in Africa. A truly worldwide audience to showcase Cloudbass Graphics software and graphic design.
