Cloudbass
understand crew like no other company, having established longstanding
relationships with all of the UK's major facilities and production
companies.
Rather than acting as an agency, the company has a unrivalled knowledge
of what each job requires which comes from the experience of the
founders. As such we are able to place people in the right situations
that uniquely match their skills with the needs of the job. We also
understand the cultures of different production companies, meaning
that we can match personalities, which is often one of the most
important aspects of ensuring a job runs smoothly.
With extensive experience within the company of nearly every top
production environment, along with top level operation abilities
in the 3 major disciplines, Cloudbass crew is backed up in a way
that few can match. Not only this, but we share knowledge of jobs
and trucks both directly and through our in-house resource, WikiBass,
which allows us to upload crucial documents that relate to jobs
for use next time.

Cloudbass has also been know to provide a multitude of people to
an OB production. This results in the unique scenario where you
have a group of people who are used to working together and trust
each other, which in turn results in a much more robust crewing
solution. This prevents any communication breakdown or personality
issues that can sometimes occur with mixed freelancers, which in
turn jeopardises a production.

Sound
- Supervisors / Guarantees / Assists
Most Cloudbass crew have come from a background
in sound and as such at least have a basic understanding of sound
even if they now work in a different area. However, sound has always
been Cloudbass' primary discipline and the various members of the
company have top level knowledge and experience of sound for Outside
Broadcast.
Our guys came into the industry just as new technology, in the form
of digital desks, was being introduced. With an open minded approach
to how things should be done the company quickly established itself
as a leading provider of guarantees to trucks with digital desks,
in particular Bowtie TV's Unit 1/2. This was several years before
the other facilties providers had embraced digital technology. Cloudbass
now regularly provides digital savvy people to ArenaTV for its Premiereship
coverage for Setanta.
The natural progression from guaranteeing was supervising and Cloudbass
have several top level supervisors that regularly work on projects
from sport to LE.
All of our sound guys are also perfectly capable of assisting and
with their knowledge of both ends of the cable are able to provide
a top level of service in high pressure situations.
As with all our crew, Cloudbass people are fully backed up with
experience and training. No one person can know everything about
a job and therefore our guys are encouraged to learn if they feel
their knowledge is lacking in any way. This takes the form of our
in house training on our own kit, including Riedel Communication
equipment, as well as a chance to refine their skills in live environments
such as our MUTV OB's.

EVS/VT/Editors
- Guarantees / Ops
Cloudbass
have been providing EVS ops, guarantees and editors for a number
of years and in to a wide variety of production situations. With
a long established relationship with sport, Cloudbass has been a leading supplier of new EVS Operators to clients such as Sky Sports for its Premiereship
football coverage.
Other productions include, Sky Rugby, ITV Touring Cars, ITV and
Sky Boxing, National Lottery, Live8, in fact there are few production
situations that our ops haven't seen. This allows us share knowledge
and provide people who are perfectly suited for what the job requires.
As technology moves on rapidly our ops are also able to keep up
to date by accessing both our training and our shared knowledge
base.
Whilst providing ops, Cloudbass has also regularly fulfilled the
role of VT Guarantee for various companies, in particular 021 Television
who have substantial VT provision. This role is often difficult
to fill as it requires specific knowledge of a company's trucks,
which is normally reserved for staff, however the shared knowledge
approach of Cloudbass allows us to support each other to successfully
guarantee trucks. In fact, Steve Knee was the first to guarantee
021's Unit6, which is a new multimode truck which can be configured
as a scanner or VT truck. This was on the British Touring Cars for
ITV, which is on of the most VT heavy shows that 021 cater for.
A relatively new direction for Outside Broadcast Companies and Cloudbass
has been the provision of Edit Systems for OBs. This requires the
editor to understand how an edit system works but also how it integrates
with the larger OB. To service this the company now provides a complete
edit and editor package which can guarantee that a system works.
Specialist knowledge of the edit system is required to ensure that
it perfectly slots into the larger OB and this is what Cloudbass
can bring to site. The production company can be be assured the
edit will be successful whilst the facilities company can relax
knowing that the specialist area of an edit system is covered and
backed up.

Vision
- Supervisors / Guarantees / Engineers / MCR
Vision
is a relatively new area for Cloudbass but one within which it is
already establishing an enviable reputation. Headed by James Lacey,
Cloudbass provides engineers but also provides guarantees on such
production as Sky's HD Boxing OBs, facilitated by CTV. This environment
is high pressure and one which requires the facilities to work without
fault and on time for one of the most demanding production companies,
Sky Sports. James has successfully fulfilled this role, despite
the specialist local knowledge of the trucks that is required, on
numerous occasions.
Cloudbass has also been very successful in providing crew into Input
Media's MCR which has grown exponentially with them taking on the
transmission provision for Setanta. This rapid expansion resulted
in a phone call to Steve who quickly found suitable people for the
roles they had to fill, with several of those people now regular
fixtures in Input's MCR. With Cloudbass guarantees also on the other
end on the OBs, our people again have a unique understanding of
the requirements of the whole transmission path.
Training for all our engineers is again continuous with opportunities
to work on our own OB vehicles which are subcontracted to other
facilities companies, but also on Arqiva trucks as part of our MUTV
facilities solution.
With the back up of a staff based environment but with the experience
of the whole industry that a freelancer gets, Cloudbass is able
to provide a type of person not previously seen within the broadcast
industry yet one that is desperately needed to support productions
of every increasing scale and complexity. |

Other
roles...
Whilst
we supply people into the more traditional OB roles, Cloudbass has
a long history of meeting specialist client requests. Whether it
be screen mix crews for Premiership football clubs or specific multiskilled
engineers for foreign derigs, Cloudbass is always able to provide
a crewing solution. So if a client requires something a little bit
different, we are able to provide in a way that an agency is not.
